5-Hit Day for Carmichael As Maranatha Christian Skirts Past Tri-City Christian

Ally Carmichael had a busy day at the plate on Thursday, smacking five hits in Maranatha Christian Eagles Varsity's 14-5 victory over Tri-City Christian. Carmichael tripled in the first, singled in the second, singled in the third, doubled in the fifth, and singled in the sixth.


Maranatha Christian Eagles Varsity grabbed an early lead. Maranatha Christian Eagles Varsity scored on a triple by Carmichael in the first inning, a single by Brenna Segoria, a single by Lauren Davis, a walk by Bella Potenziani, a single by Tia Prijoles. MCS scored in the second inning a single by Segoria, a triple by Janessa Cheigh, and a groundout by Potenziani in the second inning.


After Tri-City Christian scored one run in the top of the sixth, Maranatha Christian answered with one of their own. Tri-City Christian scored when Seattle Taylor singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Maranatha then answered when Segoria singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.


Maranatha notched five runs in the second inning. Maranatha’s offense in the inning came from a triple by Cheigh, a single by Segoria, and a groundout by Potenziani.


Segoria was credited with the victory for Maranatha Christian Eagles Varsity. She surrendered five runs on seven hits over seven innings, striking out 12.


Maranatha’s offense created 14 runs on 20 hits over six innings, striking out three.


MCS collected 20 hits on the day. Carmichael, Segoria, Marissa Heffernan, Jaelyn Bourgeois, Cheigh, and Davis each had multiple hits for Maranatha Christian Eagles Varsity. Carmichael led Maranatha with five hits in five at bats.


MCS is now 2-0 in league also beating Classical Academy this week, and 3-3 overall.
