Congratulations to Noah Rupp for an amazing wrestling season! In addition to his numerous victories throughout the season, Rupp finished the season as a CIF Champion, placed 2nd at Masters, and qualified for the CA Wrestling State Championship. Whereas other high school sports feed into various divisions and have multiple state championships, wrestling only has one: all CA high schools, regardless of size, feed into one state tournament. Only the top 40 at each weight class get the invite. Noah Rupp, representing Maranatha Christian, was in that elite top 40 class this year as the #31 seed. Although Rupp did not make the podium this year (top 8), he placed in the top 16, falling two matches short of being a state placer. He put on a heck of a performance going 3-2, including two big upsets. Noah definitely made a name for himself and put Maranatha Christian on the wrestling community’s radar. Most impressively, Rupp did it all without the support of a team. As most everyone knows, Rupp is the sole wrestler for Maranatha. The “team” consisted of his dad, John Rupp, and assistant coach, Paul Bradley, as well as additional focused training with Justin Flores. (But stay tuned, word is there may be the opportunity for a full Maranatha wrestling team next year!) Congratulations Noah!
